1 Mot de rentrée

Chères et chers membres du groupe SMAI-MODE,

C’est avec plaisir que je reprends en cette rentrée la responsabilité de l’animation du groupe. J’en profite pour remercier chaleureusement Térence Bayen pour son engagement ces dernières années et ses bons conseils ! Je vous souhaite à toutes et tous une excellente rentrée riche en échanges et collaborations. Continuons ensemble à faire vivre ce bel espace collectif.

2.1 Première rencontre nationale du RT optimisation

We are pleased to invite you to the annual meeting of the Gaspard Monge Program on Optimization and Operations Research and their Interactions with Data Sciences “PGMO Days 2025”, to be held on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19, November 2025 at the EDF Lab Paris Saclay.

The PGMO days will be an opportunity to meet researchers from both academia and industry.

The plenary speakers will be:

The topics of this conference include :

✓global optimization (relaxation, approximation, semi-algebraic programing, stochastic algorithms…)

✓PDE aspects of optimization (shape optimization, optimal transport, …)

✓interfaces of optimization and data sciences, including statistical learning
✓related fields : risk management, uncertainties analysis
✓specific industrial applications of optimization and operations research : energy management, transportation, telecom networks,…

PGMO project leaders are encouraged to propose presentations on topics related to their project. Researchers wishing to organize invited sessions should contact the PGMO Committee for pre-approval and coordination, at the earliest by writing to pgmodays-coordination@fondation-hadamard.fr. A typical invited session consists of a block of 3 talks of 30 minutes each. Longer invited sessions of 6 papers may be considered if the topic warrants it.

Important dates:
- 19th September, deadline of abstract submission, both for contributed and invited talks
- Second half of October, notification of acceptance

One-page abstracts should be submitted via easychair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pgmodays2025 To prepare your abstract, please follow the guidelines and latex or pdf template in https://www.fondation-hadamard.fr/en/our-programs/thematic-programs/pgmohome/pgmodays/ . The abstract should be of at most one-page-long. The name of the speaker should be underlined in the list of authors. Speakers of invited sessions should follow the same abstract submission procedure as for ordinary submissions, mentioning in addition the title of the invited session in the online form. Organizers of invited sessions should submit a one-page file with the title of the session and the list of speakers + titles of the talks via easychair after pre-approval.

Registration (free but mandatory) will open soon. Please note that, in order to create awareness for food waste, there will be a symbolic charge for lunches.

2.4 Workshop on “Ordered Structures in Games and Decision”, 20-22 October 2025, Paris

2.5 Rencontre Calcul des Variations, 12 – 16 January 2026, CIRM

Avec le soutien du RT Optimisation, nous organisons en janvier prochain une rencontre au CIRM sur le theme ’ Calcul des Variations et applications’. Il s’agira de la rencontre principale de l’axe Calcul des Variations en 2026. En plus des exposes au format classique il y aura deux mini-cours de 3h donnés par G. De Philippis et A. Garroni. La deadline pour la pre-inscription (les places sont limitées) est le 1er novembre. Les frais de séjours peuvent être pris en charge (repas et logement mais pas le transport) et il y a également la possibilité de proposer un exposé court.

This seminar is dedicated to Professor Marc Lassonde, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

The 2nd Latin American Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LACIAM) will take place in Valparaíso (Chile) at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, from January 19th to 23rd, 2026. This event aims at bringing together researchers and students from Latin America and around the world who are engaged in Applied Mathematics and their connections with industrial challenges.
